To buy tampons and cotton padded napkins or sanitary pads women need to spend a certain amount of bucks. But, most of the times, they don’t get that desired amount of comfort and safety from leakage. No matter how costly these sanitary pads or tampons are, all these products hardly surpass the level of comfort and ease of use of period cups.

    The practical alternative to tampons

Period cups or menstrual cups are made of soft silicon and are worn inside the vagina just like you wear tampons. But the main difference between the two is that period cups collect the fluid whereas tampons absorb it. You just have to empty the fluid from the cup in the toilet whenever you feel it is going to be full. A period cup has the capacity of holding around 30ml of the fluid, which, for a woman, is around one-third of her average total flow per period. However they do not need to be changed as frequently as tampons. Period cups are basically two inches long and are usually free from irritation.

4 more reasons to opt for period cups

    1. It saves money

Since period cups are made up of soft silicon material, you need not to get it changed often or buy more than one cup.  One period cup can last for about 10 long years! In short, it actually saves a lot of money so that you can spend more on other necessities.

    1. It is skin friendly

Unlike tampons, period cups do not give any sort of trouble to the vaginal area. Tampons can absorb around 65% of the menstrual fluid, and along with it, it absorbs 35% of the natural moisture of the vaginal area. This leads to low pH balance in the vagina. On the contrary, period cups are just perfect for all kinds of skin and generally it don’t cause any sort of irritation. It is even applicable for women with sensitive skin, allergies, thrush, etc.

    1. It reduces considerably the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome or TSS

This illness caused by bacteria can even kill you. A woman can run the risk of shredding if the tampon has got a little higher absorbency than her actual menstrual flow. Small cotton bits can result in small cuts inside vaginal walls, which act as the flawlessground for the breeding of the bacteria. But with period cups there is no such risk.

    1. No leakage, no odour

If worn properly, it will never lead to any sort of leakage. The menstrual liquid passes to the period cup without any sort of odour. Moreover it contains no deodorisers or bleaches, so there is no way of affecting the skin too.

Since the time period cups have come up in the market, it has been loved by women all around the world. There have been several Australian online sites and local medical stores selling it. The Australians can buy it from anywhere suitable to them. Wearing them can make you forget you are wearing it actually. One can do any activities, like running, swimming, etc. by wearing it.
