Playing sports is great for your body, and there are loads of different ones to choose from. Soccer, basketball, tennis and swimming are just a few of the most popular sports in the world, and you don’t always need other people to help you play them. You can practise any sport by yourself by concentrating on technique and style, and get some friends together if you want to have a match or spend some time socialising and exercising at the same time. If you’re playing sports a lot, there are certain things you should ensure you do in order to keep your body healthy.

    1. Sleep enough

Too many people just don’t get enough sleep at night, so it’s important that you get to bed at a time, which will allow you to get enough hours. Experts recommend getting 7-8 hours of sleep per night; so if you have an early morning, go to bed earlier the night before. If you’re working long hours and then playing sports after work, be sure to organise your evening so that you can get to bed at a good time and get the sleep you need. If you’re getting 8 hours and still feel tired, go to bed an hour earlier to get some extra sleep. While 7-8 hours is a guideline, some people will need more sleep, particularly if they are working hard or playing an intense sport.

    1. Go for regular massages

Professional sports people travel around with a massage therapists on hand, and a regular deep tissue massage might be just the thing you need to keep your circulation going and ensure you perform at your maximum potential. Even if you’re not feeling any aches and pains at the moment, a massage can improve your health more than you may realise, and it will also help to prevent any future health issues.

    1. Watch your diet

You should make sure you’re getting enough Vitamin C and other nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. Check with your doctor to make sure you don’t have any underlying health issues such as a vitamin or iron deficiency, since this can make you weaker and put your health at risk. If you have any problems, ask your doctor what you can eat in order to make up for the deficiency your body may have. For iron deficiencies, more red meat and vegetables such as spinach can help to balance it out, while Vitamin C can be found in oranges and other fruits.

    1. Know your limits

Knowing your limits ensures that you don’t push your body too far and cause yourself an injury, which leaves you unable to play sports again. Injuries are very common in the sports world, which is why it’s so important to keep your body in peak physical condition to minimise any potential issues and problems. Don’t work yourself harder than you can handle, and remember that 1-2 days of relaxation can be more valuable than using the time to do strenuous exercise and sports.
