Is it better if you just have one option? That is the situation before; our great-grandparents have one option only most of the time. If they are in so much pain that they need to take a pain reliever, all they need to do is take two aspirins and that’s it! If the pain persists, they will call the doctor in the morning. This is not the situation today though. We have now many options and depending on what we are told about them, we choose one to take every time we are in pain.

There are so many misconceptions about pain relievers though that sometimes, you just decide to bear the pain as you are afraid if all those scary talks about them will also happen to you. Is this also your dilemma? If so, you might be benefitted if you will scroll down below and check some of the myths and facts you need to know about pain relievers

    • “The more you take, the quicker the pain will be relived.” This is one of the most common misconceptions. Well, there might be times this is effective but not advisable. If you will do this every time, there is a good chance your body will develop tolerance of the said pain reliever.
    • “Just because you are taking the pain reliever for a valid reason, you will never be addicted just like the others.” This is obviously a misconception. Even if the reason is the most valid, you can still get addicted. This is why, if you don’t have to take a pain reliever like the pain is actually just bearable, then you shouldn’t.
    • Thinking that those who take prescribed painkillers can automatically get addicted is just another myth. Your doctor will surely not prescribe you such drug if that is the case. However, if you will use the painkillers for an extended time, there might be some adverse effects. You should always be on the right track. Consult your doctor if you need to take more painkillers.
